Recap: Week of Sept. 12

This past Thursday was my last day substitute teaching...thank goodness! I'm glad I got some experience creating lesson plans and leading a classroom, but I'm also glad the two weeks are over. I saw a number of things that I would change if I were in charge of that school.

Scott was on a business trip in the Bahamas for most of the week...lucky him! It didn't work out for me to go with him on this particular trip, but I'm hoping to go on some future trips.

On Friday I went with a few other wives over to Scott's office building. It was my first time seeing where he works. We had a meeting to plan the Halloween and Christmas parties. For Halloween, they have the party at the office and there is a competition to see who has the best decorated cubicle. I've volunteered to help decorate the office and am also going to help Scott decorate his cubicle (even though he doesn't want to). The Christmas party is going to be held at the party room in our building. I've volunteered to help with the decorating for that as well. Should be fun!

Yesterday Scott and I listened to the Vanderbilt - Ole Miss football game on the internet radio. We have a bet each year that the loser has to take the winner out for brunch the next day. I won this year...woo hoo! After the game was over we made a quick trip to the mall to pick up a few things. Then one of the other families invited us over to their apartment for some drinks and out to dinner afterward. They are really nice and we had a good time.

I'll leave you with one of the most famous songs in Cartagena....you hear it everywhere. It's sung by Joe Arroyo, one of the most well-known Caribbean/salsa singers in the world. He is from Cartagena and recently passed away.
