Ciruelas

Yesterday when I stopped by the store to get some snacks, I noticed that the produce section had a sign for corozos. These are little red fruits (a bit bigger than a cherry) that are supposed to be native to Cartagena. I picked up a package so that we could try them, but when I got home I realized that the cashier had rung them up as "ciruelas," which is Spanish for plums. Well, we tasted them and they are definitely plums...they're just smaller than the ones in the U.S.

I will have to check the store again for the corozos.
